Dr. Chakir is an immunologist and cell biologist who studies the role of airway structural cells in asthma.
Her research focuses on the cellular and molecular mechanisms of airway inflammation and remodelling; in particular, on the interaction between structural cells and inflammatory cells.
Her laboratory studies the mechanisms of bronchial thermoplasty and other treatments for severe asthma. She is Respiratory Editor for the International Journal of Biochemistry & Cell Biology.
